Personality isn’t permanent

Your personality, it is not permanent. That is the reflection of the day. Today’s title comes from the book that I’ve been listening to for the past week and I am obsessed with his book. It is a book that I highly recommend for you listening to this podcast. Because, obviously, you are listening to this podcast and you are reflecting. You are reflecting with me every day. So that title of the book is “Personality isn’t Permanent” by Benjamin Hardy. This is a psychologist that gives you a lot of food for thought in this book. He was talking about a personality test. How he does not believe in personality tests because personality is always evolving and it should always evolve. I agree with him because when I was 10 years old to when I was 20, my personality changed. The 30s and 40s and 50s, I am a different person than I was even a week ago. Everything is always evolving. So he says that sometimes we get labeled with this personality test and the labeling is something that then, we obtain and we get stuck. So an introvert and extrovert is something that he doesn’t believe, he says. Actually, after listening to him, I also agree. An extrovert can learn to be an introvert and vice-versa. So we are always evolving. This is one of the reasons I love reflecting so much on a daily basis. Because everything changes in life. Nothing stays the same. So one of the concepts that he talks about is your future self. You have to be clear on what the future self is that you want to be and then, you have to work towards that future self. So I tell you myself, I mean, I remember seeing myself as an executive and creating a life where I was going to be successful. I kept seeing that and that was the future self. Right now, I see myself as a motivational speaker. I want to be able to inspire and change people’s lives with the wisdom that I’ve obtained throughout the years of my life. To be able to do that, for me, it is part of the legacy that I want to leave. So the future self that I see is somebody that definitely will be traveling, will be on stage talking to people and sharing my life and my tools and everything about me. Giving it to the world. That’s what I see as my future self. So the actions that I take on a daily basis because of how I see myself are actions that are going to get me closer to my future self. When you look at your day, you realize that every moment of that day, you asked a question. This is something that I’ve been doing. Is this something that’s going to help me with the movement? Is it going to help me with the book? Is it going to help me with Formè? Is it going to impact people? So my actions are actions of impact. I spend less time on social media. I’ll spend less time watching TV. This is so clear. All you have to do is look at right now. Where you are in your life. Look at how you’re seeing what you are seeing. Are you seeing clearly a future self? If you’re not, that is the main focus. Where do you see yourself? Start questioning. Start looking for things that bring you joy. Things that make you happy because, ultimately, we want to be happy in life. So your future self should reflect where you are now, what actions you are taking now. The beautiful thing is that at any point in life, you can decide to shift that future self and you can start taking action to create a future self that is going to make you proud, that is going to bring you joy, that is going to bring you success and that is going to be making an impact in your life and the life of others. Let’s reflect, reset and reconnect.
