Unclear communication leads to frustration. That is the reflection of the day. I was thinking of how yesterday I actually learned a big lesson. I feel it’s a lesson that I want to share with you because whether it is in your business, for those of you that have businesses leading a team, or at home with your family and friends, it’s important to understand how we are communicating. How clear are we communicating and is our communication leading to frustration that can happen to any of us? One thing I realized yesterday after speaking with some of my team members who are working on some projects is that I am moving at such a fast pace that my communication with my team is not clear enough. I am not giving direction in a manner the team understands. They were not clear on everyone’s responsibilities and it was creating negative feelings and intentions within the team member and myself. Ironically, I was feeling it but I was so busy that I wasn’t present to the fact that I was creating the confusion. But yesterday, after one of the team members made a comment, I really got it. I said, “You know what, it is me. I am the issue here.” I need to stop the accelerator, slow it down and listen to the team and give clear directions. I don’t feel that I am and try not to be a dictator when I’m leading, that is not my style. However, it could be perceived as that if you’re not listening to the direction that the rest of the team is giving you. It is important to reflect on the directions that you are given and how clear they are because that could lead into less productivity or negative feelings that could destroy relationships and even beautiful memories. So think of how you can apply this in your life. Where in your life, are you lacking communication or clear communication? Let’s reflect, reset and reconnect.
