How to begin to find good news every day of your life?
How to begin to find good news every day of your life. That is the reflection of the day. This reflection comes from a meeting that I had today. I have had this exercise that I practice when I have all the meetings. It could be with my staff. It could be when I’m presenting somewhere. I ask the question, “We are going to start with good news and I go, “Tell me what’s good news?” It should come automatically but, ironically, it is so hard for everybody to do that exercise. I find people even say, “skip me”, “come back to me” and it always blows me away because I understand. I’ve been in that space where we get stuck in a space where we cannot see all that we have. There is a saying that I’ve been practicing for a while and you’ve heard this in other podcasts which is “when you concentrate on what you have, you get more of what you want. When you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will get less of what you want.” That is a formula that seems to work. Gratitude is a major component of happiness and not just happiness but also gratitude is clarity. Because when you’re living in a place of gratitude, then things just make more sense and things are easier. So when you’re finding yourself in the morning when you wake up and you are finding that you ask that question to yourself and you have a hard time looking for answers then, it might be a good idea for you to start writing it. Write in a journal. I used to write five things that I was grateful for. Believe it or not, I don’t write this anymore because I live in a state of gratefulness. I am always excited when I wake up to what this day is going to bring and I even say good morning to myself. I love the mornings when I wake up and I’m like, Good Morning Maria when I’m by myself. It is wonderful! It is a wonderful day! It is going to be a wonderful day. I’m excited for what this day is going to bring. There is always excitement in the day. I’ve mentioned before, I plan something that I like. For example, today, I knew that I was going to go walking with my daughter and she is beginning to skateboard. So after work, I’m excited that I’m going to go get something to eat with her. We’re going to go walking and she’s going to skateboard. I am going to be watching her and doing some videos with her. So I’m already excited at the beginning of the morning because I know something really fun is going to happen later on and I will be working on my connection with my daughter. Every day, there should be something exciting that you add to the day. Because, believe me, no matter how bad your day is, there is always something to be grateful for. When you can find it within your heart, within your soul, then look outside. Even now, as autumn is starting to settle and you start to feel the weather getting a little cooler, you are already starting to see a little bit of the changes on the leaves. There is so much beauty in that there is going to be a shower of leaves of different colors. It’s like nature at its fullest. So I’m urging you to go and make sure that every day that you are living, you are finding something to be grateful for. If you’re not able to, like I said, just repeat it and find it in front of you when you look at yourself in the mirror. Guess what? Then write it and start creating habits on a daily basis that are going to help you continue to build this strong foundation that has a lot less cracks with gratitude. It will be reconnecting with yourself and with nature. So today, let’s reflect, reset and reconnect
